Privacy Policy

Last updated: March 15, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Prasora ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use Engram. We believe in radical transparency about data practices, especially for a product that runs alongside your code.

The short version: your code, project files, and memory database never leave your machine. We collect only what is necessary for license management.

1. What Stays on Your Machine

Engram is designed to be fully local. The following data is processed and stored entirely on your machine and is never transmitted to our servers or any third party:

Data Status
Source code and project files Local only
Memory database (all captured knowledge) Local only
Decisions, requirements, and observations Local only
Search indexes (semantic and full-text) Local only
Configuration and settings Local only

We have no ability to access, view, or retrieve any of this data. It exists only on your hardware.

2. Data We Collect

We collect a minimal set of information necessary for license management and invoicing:

  • Email address — required for license activation and communication.
  • Name — optional, used for invoicing if provided.
  • Organization — optional, used for invoicing if provided.
  • Country and state — for tax compliance and invoicing.
  • Machine code — a hardware-derived hash used to bind your license to a specific machine. This is a one-way hash; we cannot derive hardware details from it.

3. What Is Transmitted

Engram makes exactly two types of network requests:

  • License registration (once): your email address and machine code are sent to our server to activate your license.
  • License heartbeat (daily): your machine code and license ID are sent to verify your subscription is active. No other data is included — no code, no project names, no memory content.

There are no analytics calls, no telemetry, no usage tracking, and no background data collection of any kind.

4. How We Use Your Data

  • License management — to activate, verify, and manage your subscription.
  • Invoicing — to generate purchase receipts and tax invoices.
  • Product updates — to notify you of important updates or security patches (you can opt out).

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond the above.

5. Third-Party Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with any third party, with one exception:

  • Razorpay — our payment processor. When you make a purchase, your payment information is handled directly by Razorpay under their privacy policy. We do not store credit card numbers or payment credentials.

6. No Analytics or Tracking

The Engram software contains no analytics SDKs, no tracking pixels, no usage telemetry, and no crash reporters that transmit data. We do not track which features you use, how often you use the software, or any behavioral data whatsoever.

7. Data Retention

  • Account data (email, name, machine code) is retained as long as your subscription is active.
  • After subscription cancellation, account data is retained for up to 12 months for support and reactivation purposes, then deleted.
  • You may request immediate deletion of your account data at any time by contacting us.

8. Your Rights (GDPR)

If you are located in the European Economic Area or a jurisdiction with similar data protection laws, you have the right to:

  • Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Rectification — request correction of inaccurate data.
  • Erasure — request deletion of your personal data.
  • Data portability — request your data in a machine-readable format.
  • Object — object to processing of your data for specific purposes.

To exercise any of these rights, contact hello@prasora.com. We will respond within 30 days.

9. Data Security

We use industry-standard security measures to protect the data we do collect, including encryption in transit (TLS) and encryption at rest. Access to account data is restricted to authorized personnel only.

10. Children's Privacy

Engram is not intended for use by individuals under 16 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
